The Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority (SCZone) announced the launch of its first production of green fuel, this announcement came with the launch of COP 27 hosted by Egypt at Sharm El-Sheikh.
The SCZone’s success is the result of 16 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with major international companies due to its infrastructure which supports the establishment of such projects in addition to having four industrial zone and six marine ports overlooking the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
Egypt strategy towards localizing the green hydrogen industry is based on three main axes, which are the manufacture of green fuels (including green hydrogen, green ammonia, as well as methanol) and the provision of industries complementing the green hydrogen industries (electrical analyzers – solar panels – turbines) in addition to ship refueling services with green fuel.
Maersk completing the first successful operation of supplying a container ship with "methanol"-based green fuel at East Port Said a few days ago.
